Why Fans of Marie Lu’s Warcross Will Love Batman: Nightwalker

Marie Lu took the world by storm with her brilliant science-fiction thriller Warcross. If you haven’t read it yet, do yourself a favor and read it now. You’ll be glad you did!

For everyone who read Warcross and loved every page, you’re probably itching to get your hands on Marie Lu’s upcoming Batman: Nightwalker. It’s the latest installment in the DC Icons series, and it will have you on the edge of your seat as you race through the pages. It’s jam-packed with everything you want in a YA super hero book—diverse characters, lots of action, and a high-stakes plot.

If you loved Warcross, you’ll want to add Batman: Nightwalker to your reading list right now. Here’s why:

1. A Brilliant Protagonist

One of the things we loved about Emika in Warcross was her beautiful mind. Bruce Wayne is another whip-smart character who can think on his feet. Combine his brains with his athletic reflexes and prowess as a fighter, and you have the perfect combination for a super hero to be.

2. A Painful Past

Just like Emika, Bruce lost both his parents when he was young and spent several years under the care of a guardian. The pain of losing his parents lingers with him, but their memory is what drives him to fight for a better city and safer streets.

3. Amazing Tech

If you loved the tech in Warcross (how could you not?), then you’ll go wild over the amazing technology in Batman: Nightwalker. From intelligent cars to bulletproof suits, Bruce has access to some incredible gadgets. The characters will often manipulate tech on the fly, hijacking and hacking to suit their own purposes.

4. A Complex Antagonist

Emika and Bruce both deal with villains shrouded in mystery. The antagonists in both books are slippery and untrustworthy, and have an agenda that remains hidden until the very end. If you gasped in surprise at the end of Warcross, then prepare yourself for the complexity of Madeleine Wallace in Batman: Nightwalker. You won’t know if she’s Bruce’s worst nightmare or the key to bringing down the Nightwalkers.

5. A Quest for Justice

Emika wanted to save the world, and Bruce is no different. When the Nightwalkers start killing wealthy citizens and stealing their fortunes, Bruce decides to take matters into his own hands. Even though his mind and heart are pulling him in opposite directions, he stays true to himself and does what he feels is right, regardless of the consequences.
