Rescue

Greetings comrade, my name is Captain Price and I’m the leader of a squad called Bravo-6. I’m going to tell you a story about my first mission. It took place on April 17th of 1987 in Iraq. The mission was to eliminate the President of Iraq. Our mission starts off about 320 klicks off the coast of The Dead Sea. My team and I had a mission we needed to complete. That mission was to eliminate the President of Iraq. With my team, it wasn’t big, it consisted of 5 highly skilled soldiers and I, that’s about it. But, as we were getting close to land, we felt as if something was off. We did not know what it was but we could tell. The ocean was quiet and calm. I went to the AIC room to check if everything was going well, when all of a sudden I heard an explosion at the front of the ship. One of the commanders comes into the AIC room and tells us we have been hit by a torpedo. Since this was enemy territory, we were prepared for something like this. When this happens the whole crew and ship goes into defense mode. Everyone is working to find where the torpedo came from. As we get a little bit closer to shore, around 160 klicks . The radar picks up something that is in the ocean. Knowing it wasn’t any of our ships or submarines. We fired three torpedoes at it. When doing so, we all knew that whoever sent that submarine would know exactly where we were. So my crew and I took a helicopter to shore and began to go on foot.

We decided to go into the forest because it would give us more cover and better places to hide in case we see enemies. It was going to be night pretty soon, so we found a small cave and rested there for the night. The sun rose around 0-600 hours, we packed up and kept moving forward. Even though we were in the forest it was extremely hot. Had to be around 95 degrees, so we had to take more breaks to make sure no one passed out or had a heat stroke. But as we were taking a break, my Master Sgt. Ghost, he’s our Explosive Ordnance Disposal expert , he needed to go to the latrine. As he did so, the rest of us sat and ate a bit of food that we had. A few minutes go by, then 10, then 15. I shouted a little for Ghost, but I got no response, so I went to look in the direction he went. When I walk further, I can see his gear and his gun. My first thought was he was playing around with us. But as I scan around, I see two sets of boot prints that weren’t ours. My immediate reaction is *****, Ghost has been captured”. I run back to my team and tell them what has happened.

We start to head out to try and find who took Ghost. As we spent hours upon hours searching through the dense forest, we started to walk into a swampy area. Which made it a lot harder for us to look for Ghost. It was April 25th, day 8 of trying to find Ghost. My team and I walked miles and miles through the swamp. We wandered upon a swampy and old looking camp site. We proceeded to look around cautiously, not knowing what could be in this camp. We decided to get on the same radio signal and split up. We split into two teams, one teaming taking the North side and the other taking the South side. As I’m taking the North side with Pvt. Rayez, we see multiple shipping containers. There had to be at least a dozen of them sunk into the swamp water. We each take one container, not finding anything in them. We were both very disappointed in not being able to find Ghost. As I radio the South side team about not finding anything. They quickly tell us to make our way to them. They too found shipping containers, but there were one three. As we approached the containers with caution, we can hear that something or someone is in one of the containers. We each take a container and open them at once. The first two were empty, but what was in the last container was sickening.
