It all started on a warm August day. Students returning back to campus after being shut down by a global pandemic months prior. Teachers begin the class day with nerves skyrocketing to levels never seen before. All morning professors furiously wipe down surfaces and anxiously wring their hands. As 12:25 hits the clock, nervous students begin trickling into Dr. Rampy’s Technology for Teaching and Learning class. Students are required to maintain social distancing regulations and find themselves further from each other than they have ever been. No longer are classrooms overcomes by old friends reuniting or new friendships being developed. Instead the class is overwhelmingly silent and the clock continues to tick.
At 12:30, the professor breaks the loud silence with a comforting welcome. She introduces the class to the course and to each other, doing anything to return to a feeling of normalcy.
Day by day, students are working heavily to not only do well- but also to become a Community. Both teachers and students feeling so close yet so far.
