You wake up. Only you’re not in your bed. As a foul smell fills the room you stand up. The smell gets stronger, and as it does, it becomes quite pleasing. It reminds you of being a child. You look around. ‘Where am I?’ The only thing you see is a white room. All white, nothing else there, although, near the corner of the room is a desk. On the desk is a note. You walk over to the desk, curious. It reads:
This is not real. What is real? Are you real? Is this a dream? Help. You are a lie. Leave now. They’re coming. The eye eaters. They’re coming.
As you read that, your stomach fills with butterflies. Some even fly out of your mouth! You look around the desk for anything else. As you look around, you see a hidden drawer on the back of the desk. Curiosity fills you and you can’t help but open it. Inside are five pills and a knife with leftover blood. You pick up the pills and swallow them. As the bitter taste fills your mouth, suddenly, everything is colorful and fun! You have never been this happy in your life.
As your smile stretches across your face, getting too big for your head, you hear a static noise coming from the back of the room. With that, you turn around. You look and see a television. The static stops.
“Hello!” the TV screams, “So you woke up and you don’t know where you are, yeah?” It continues…
“Well, if you’re so new, I guess I should give you some rules. You don’t want to die, do you? Well, first, if you see anyone with an eye mask, do not look at them. Just look down and act normal. If you don’t do this, they will take your teeth. They never have mouths, so they are jealous of the ones that do. Be careful with that though, because if someone isn’t wearing a mask and has a head of a real eye and you avoid eye contact, they will kill you because of anger. They never wanted to be an eye, they were chosen. Just be sure to look out for the little details. Sometimes if you keep eye contact, you could free them! Next, do not pick flowers. Oftentimes, the flowers are harmless, so why would you bother to pick them? But of course, some of the flowers are deadly and will make you see things until you go too insane to live. Lastly, there are many people here with horns. You know, the ones that take the place of their ears, mouth, nose, or eyes? These are something to look out for. Just be nice to them. If not, they will stab you and harvest you for your soul and organs. They think the flavor of humans is immaculate. They never really cause harm to anyone though. Just be sure to always decline meat from them. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
Now, with that, only follow what others do. It’s best not to be original, as you know, you would die if you were different. The only thing you’re here for is to solve one thing, no matter how small.”
The television goes all staticky again. You hear whispers from the wall next to you. As you look to your left, you notice a door- well a dark passageway full of human teeth. As you go in, you slip on a few mouthfuls of teeth, and as you’re falling to the ground, a few of your teeth fall out with you!
You get up and keep walking, with your head down. You feel eyes scanning your soul, looking at every detail and flaw.
After a few minutes of hopeless walking, you see a light. A light with many colors. You start to run as you thought you would be in that tunnel forever. All of the colors blind you like the sun. Overwhelmed, you walk into the room. Inside you see a clown and a colorful kitchen. In the corner is a bag. The clown stands out to you, so you go over to talk.
“Hello!” you say to the clown.
“Hi, I’m Sugar, and I love to cook. Do you want something? You’re looking awfully famished! Here, have some meat!”
-Meat-
The word rings in your head. You remember the video, ‘Just be sure to always decline meat from them. It’s better to be safe than sorry.’
“I- I’ll have to pass, thank you though, Sugar…”
“Oh no, why would you do anything of that sort? Here- have some. I insist.”
“Oh, well, ok…”
You take a big bite into the meat. As you do, your nose starts to bleed heavily. You end up passing out, then waking up in a puddle of your blood, Sugar hovering over you.
“You were out for 8 minutes.” Sugar said in a relaxing tone.
“What did you do to me!?” you say, not so relaxed.
“Nothing to worry about- for now, it’s only a matter of time before you start to go insane.”
Before you have a chance to argue with Sugar, you hear a loud screech coming from a hole in the ceiling! Suddenly, an eye “person” comes in. You see Sugar staring into its eye. You remember the video again- Keep eye contact, whatever you do.
You stare into its eye. “Look away” whispers throughout the room. Am I going insane? Is any of this really happening? You think to yourself.
You are getting bored, you have been staring nonstop for 10 minutes.
Something is happening. The eye is getting smaller, morphing into a face, lips form, another eye forms, a nose, and an actual head. The now human thing turned away and left. I solved something! I can go home, just like the video said!
You hear more screeches. “Oh great, this again?” you say, annoyed. But this time it wasn’t an eye person. They looked like nurses and doctors, but only without faces. Sugar starts shaking like she just saw someone die right in front of her.
“What do you want?” you yell at them. No response. Are you going insane? They take out their knives, scissors, and other doctorly tools. The doctors start to fly to the ground, then run towards you. Suddenly, you remember the knife from earlier. You think to yourself “Only if I had that knife! Why didn’t I bring it?! Ugh!” Then you remember, you’re in a kitchen. Of course, there are knives! You run past Sugar, and into the kitchen, the nurses following you. You look through all of the drawers until you find a big knife the size of your head. You run up to the nurses and doctors.
You fight and fight, there are 10 left, stabbing and scratching those things. Finally, you kill the last one and collapse in pain. You have multiple needles sticking out of your back, arms, and legs. Sugar rushes over to you, thanks you, and puts something in your mouth. About the size of a pill. After that, you blackout. You remember nothing. It’s for the best.
After a few hours, you wake up. Only you’re not in your bed. The only thing you see is a white room. All white, nothing else there, although, near the corner of the room is a desk. You walk over to the desk, curious. It reads:
This is not real. What is real? Are you real? Is this a dream? Help. You are a lie. Leave now. They’re coming. The eye eaters. They’re coming.
