Her name was Lucy
I have a vivid memory from my childhood. I was five, I lived with my mom, stepdad and brother. Every night after my mother would put me to bed a girl in a red dress would appear. She was very pretty. But her eyes were completely black. She would sit and talk with me and sing me lullaby. Her name was Lucy. Every morning I would tell my mom about Lucy, she would always say she was my imaginary friend. So I stopped telling her about it.
A couple years later, Lucy stopped appearing. I’m now 16 and in school, I have one best friend, his name is Jake. We’re inseparable, we are best friends. Me, Jake and a few other friends were hanging out when the topic of childhood memories. After a couple of our friends told their stories all normal child things. I was snapped out of my daze when I heard Jake’s voice.
“Damien, do you have any childhood memories to share?” “Uhm, I don’t know, I don’t want you guys to think i’m crazy..” I said with sight nervousness in my voice. “Why would we think you’re crazy?” Jake asked confused. “It’s about an imaginary friend..” I said slightly embarrassed. Suddenly they all looked curious. “Tell us, please.” One of our friends said.
“Ok, Ok, When I was a kid and my mother would put me to bed, she would never sing me a lullaby. I was laying down trying to fall asleep. When I started to hear quiet singing I looked up to see a woman wearing a red Victorian era gown. She had pitch black hair and eyes, but somehow I wasn’t bothered. After that every night she would come sing to and talk to me. After a certain age she just stopped appearing.” I looked up to see Jake looking at me confused.
“What?” I asked. ” Did she have a name?” He asked. Confused, I answered “Lucy, why?” His face paled, “Jake are you okay?” Everyone looked confused. “When I was three my father told me a story of a girl who would dress in old gowns and break into peoples homes and sing to kids at night to get their trust. After a while she would kidnap them.
