Charming's Star

This is the story of Delilah Letters, a nineteen-year-old college student. She aspires to be a screenwriter or director and dive into her imaginary worlds. However, life has other plans. After all, nothing really goes as planned. This is a short story right now, but it might become a long story. I know the description is vague but give it a chance. Hope you enjoy, L-R-Battista Side Note: I do not own the cover, it belongs to its rightful owner whom, I thank for creating such beautiful art.

Chapter 26

Now, I know what you\’re thinking, no, I did not have sex. I wasn\’t ready for that and Ryan didn\’t push me. And, we were in an indoor pool on the tiled floor. I don\’t know about you but having sex on the pool tiled floor sounds uncomfortable.Kissing, however, is so underrated. At first, I thought that everyone kisses there \”lover\” or have had a kiss from a \”potential lover\” and that it was nothing as \”special\” as movies and books portray it to be.

I always thought kissing looked gross which your tongues in each other\’s mouth. Just, not a good picture. When it happened as suddenly as it did with Ryan, it was beyond words. I can\’t even use the cliché \”sparks\” idea of what it felt like.Kissing is just unexplainable, at least, the feeling of it. Sure you can explain it in scenes in stories and movies, describe it in great detail.

But can you really say, in words, exactly what you are feeling in a kiss? I don\’t think so, truly. I think there are some things in life, that cannot be understood through our narrow human brains, but can only be understood, felt with the heart.A quote by Helen Keller written on a picture frame of my brother and I explains the unexplainable better than I could.

 I quote;

\”The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.\”

I wonder if she had even been kissed before, but that\’s beside\’ the point. I think you understand what I am saying.

Back to the story, the kissing felt like it only lasted a few minutes and an eternity at the same time. Time was beyond our reach. Eventually, though, our ragged breathing forced us to stop, and so we laid together for a while. My head laying on his chest, his arms wrapped around my waist, our eyes closed and our breathing erratic.

\”I don\’t know what to say,\” I panted, opening my eyes.

\”You don\’t need to say anything,\” Ryan replied, stroking my hair.

\”But…\” I protested but he cut me off.

\”Everything was said in our kiss,\”

\”Ok,\” I sighed, closing my eyes and snuggled into his side.

I shivered and his arms wrapped tighter around me.

   \”Are you cold?\” he inquired.

\”A little,\” I said, another shiver running through my body.

\”C\’mon. You can use my shower and borrow some of my clothes,\” he said, sitting up and scooping me into his lap.

\”No, it\’s fine. I\’ll change into my party clothes and get a shower later,\” I protested, trying to get out of his lap.

\”Are those your clothes?\” he points to a lump of wet clothing.

I cursed under my breath and he cracks up.

\”Going to take me up on my offer?\” he teased.

I scowled, giving him a playful punch.

\”I guess so,\” I mumbled, blushing at the idea. I was going to be wearing his clothes. HIS CLOTHES! AND IN HIS ROOM! The boy I just kissed\’s room. Rationally, it seemed like a terrible idea but I was freezing.

 Survival won out.

\”Ok, let\’s go then,\” he replied, picking me up bridal style as if I was as light as a feather.

  \”Charming! Put me down!\” I bellowed.

\”I wouldn\’t be Charming if I let a lady walk, star,\” Ryan said in mock seriousness.

\”Fine, Charming. Don\’t blame me when you break your back carrying me,\” I sighed, looping my arms around his neck.

\”Don\’t be ridiculous. You\’re not heavy at all,\” Ryan replied, beginning to walk.

\”I bet you say that to every girl you\’ve carried,\” I laughed.

\”No, seriously. You\’re not heavy, you\’re the opposite. You\’re so tiny,\” he defended.

\”Ok, I\’ll take your word for it. But, if you\’re wrong, maybe you should walk faster,\” I replied.

\”Fine,\” he smirks, sprinting across the pool with me screaming like a banshee.

We ran into the dark.
