Emily

I listen to Simon & Garfunkel

And I think of Emily

With pink hair

And long sleeves

(who would’ve kissed me if she had the chance to)

I listen to bookends theme

I feel Emily sit down next to me, our knees touching

As we listen to it together

For that 1 minute and 20 seconds

I play it once more

Because sometimes I need her sitting next to me for more than just

1 minute and 20 seconds

I play it once more

to make sure that Emily’s knees are still knocking against mine

to make sure

she’s still with me

we never get more than that

1 minute

and 20 seconds

but sometimes if I close my eyes

I can hear the music still playing

Long after the 1 minute and 20 seconds

I can still feel her next to me
