He is also a journalist whose work has appeared in such publications as LA Weekly, Mother Jones, and the San Francisco Bay Guardian, among others. Author of The Newcomer's Handbook for Moving to and Living in New York City, Allen now resides in Brooklyn, NY, having previously lived in Paris, Sydney, Katmandu, and Calcutta.
