Looking at the sky at night is the most beautiful thing in the world. The way that the stars seem to just twinkle up there is the most breathtaking sight. I had been laying out on my lawn for about 3 hours now and it was fully black outside, with the only light coming for those breathtaking stars. My mother was probably sleeping in her bed and missing out on this beautiful sight in the sky. Ever since I was little, I had always loved the stars and had spent all night, for as long as I could remember, just staring at them.
“Honey, come inside it’s time to go to bed,” my mother said sleepy eyed at the back door.
“Okay,” I replied getting one last look at the stars before getting up and walking over to my mother. I so wanted to just stay laying in the grass just staring at those beautiful stars but mom was right I had to go to bed. As I past her, she glanced at the sky and for a moment I thought she was going to cry but she steeled herself, smiling at me in the process. My father died two years ago and he was always looking at the stars with me. I kiss my mother softly on the cheek before whispering softly in her ear.
“It’s going to be okay, Mom. He’s always with us.”
She smiled at me before turning around and heading back inside probably to go back to sleep. Before I go inside, I take one last look at the stars and whisper to them.
“I’ll always be here for Mom and I’ll never leave her.”
