Chapter 32: Becca Morris
Becca fought as hard as she could. Whenever a Traveler attacked her, she would cut them down with her weapon. She felt like a brand-new person with each kill she got. A few times, she would have gotten killed, but she killed the Traveler with the gun. She picked the gun up, it was an M-4. She checked the clip, full. She grabbed more clips from the dead Traveler and put them in his pockets. Becca has never fired a gun before but how different can it be from watching TV? She aimed the gun at a Traveler about to hack Morgan. She pulled the trigger. The kick knocked her back a few inches, the muzzle went in the air. Becca looked to see that she did hit the Traveler. Morgan looked at her with bewilderment on her face then gratitude. Becca then continued moving around, shooting the enemies with precision aim, getting better and better.
There were a lot more Travelers in this camp then she thought. Tents were on fire, people were on fire. She couldn’t tell if they were regular humans running or Travelers. Anyone with a weapon in their hands, she shot at. She made her way around camp when she saw that Karen was stabbing Travelers left and right. One female Traveler ran at the People to People supervisor. Karen grabbed the lady by the left wrists, which had the weapon, then stabbed the women in the guts several times before throwing her to the ground.
Karen saw Becca a few yards away from her, watching her with the M-4 in her hands. Becca gave an encouraging smile which Karen returned. Then, out in the smokey haze surrounding the camp, jumped out Ryker with a sword in his hand. Becca’s face dropped as she lifted the gun up. She pulled the trigger but heard an emptying click. The mag was empty. She released the clip, letting it hit the ground, then searched in her pocket for another clip only to find it was empty. She watched in slow motion as Karen turned around and met the end of Ryker’s sword.
