He loved her
The way
The ocean loves the sand,
Never fully committing,
Keeping her satisfied
By washing over her little by little
But when he was angry,
He crashed down upon her,
Taking great chunks of her
Back with him
To the depths of the sea
He was either crystal clear calm
Or broodingly grey,
Murky and dangerous,
He could never fulfill
Her desire
Of having him completely to herself.
He was fluid,
She could never fully grasp
Who he was,
The real him.
He never barred her
The depths of his soul
Because the sand only ever sees
The surface of the ocean…
