Obedient: a poem

Obedient

Everybody expects us to stand down

They want us to break down

To learn our place

To sit back and watch the “men” do the work

To do the housework

To slave away in the kitchen all day

To seem happy on a Friday

But I can’t

I won’t

They need to learn their place

Why don’t they sit back and go to the marketplace?

While we go and win first place?

Its about time someone said,

To their face,

So let’s state our case

And rise up to ******* first place.
