Hi, I’m Alia Raslan. I’m 13 and a half years old, I’m in eighth grade, I live in Portland, Oregon, and I’m your average kid. Except I have a big problem. That big problem is called compulsive lying. Well, I guess it’s not really compulsive. I’m honest on some things. But all too often, I’ve gotten in trouble: at home, at school, with my friends, for not telling the truth. And that’s why I’m here, writing this story. I’m breaking the cycle. I’m finally being fully honest about something, even if that something is how often I’m not so honest.
In this story, I will describe in detail mistakes I’ve made and reasons I’ve gotten in trouble. I will change the names of the people that were involved in some of my ******** to protect their privacy (although some of them may be reading this – you know who you are.) The purpose of this isn’t to show you that I’m a bad person. I’m hoping you’ll learn from my mistakes and have enough self-respect to always speak truths.
