“You actually killed the *******,” Josh said, looking over Lance’s body. “Is he really dead?”
“Yep,” Jasper said, sitting on the ground with a blank expression.
“I thought you were going to kill us,” Ben said, shocked.
“I still can,” Jasper joked. “Nah, I don’t feel like it. I was never going to kill you guys. That was;t me. I did mean what I said. Every word.”
“So, what now?” Ben asked.
“I have no ******* idea,” Jasper laughed. “I’m King now. I don’t know what to do. I just murdered someone, and I don’t feel bad about it.”
“Was it true? Did he make you watch over two hundred people die?” Franklin asked.
“Yes,” Jasper said, lowing his head. “I remember each one. After that, he hurt me in so many different ways. Said I needed to feel their pain to understand. I remember that too.” Jasper raised his head towards Jason’s body. “I’m sorry about Jason. He really cared about you, Em.”
“I know,” She said, hugging Jason’s body.
“So, can you call off the blanks now? They’re creeping me out,” Josh said.
“Oh, I forgot they were there,” Jasper said, standing up and walking out of the glass box. “Listen up; I’m King now. You all have to listen to me. As of this moment, I want all of you to go help anyone who’s injured. It’s probably wishful thinking, but maybe some are still alive. I want you to find transportation and get everyone back to their homes. Understood?”
“Yes, my King!” The blanks said in unison and left the room.
“I don’t think I’ll get used to that,” Jasper said. As he turned around, Franklin was walking towards him. “Frank?”
Franklin said nothing as he raised his gun towards Jasper.
“Seriously?” Jasper asked. “You’re seriously doing this?”
“I can’t let another Lance go rounding more people up and murdering them. I hoped you wouldn’t be like him. But, just now, you sounded like him. Giving orders to the blanks. You didn’t even let them go. You just ordered them around. DO you even care about them?”
“Honestly, it hadn’t crossed my mind. Maybe it’s the Exceed in me, but I don’t care about a lot of things right now. I’m not going to be like Lance. I’m not going to hurt people just for my own goals. I’m not the same person I was when we woke up in the theater that day. I’m different. We all are. Not by our own choice. Will killing me honestly make you feel better? Then shoot me,” Jasper said.
“Hold on!” Ronda said. “No one’s shooting anyone. Both of you are acting crazy right now.” She looked at Franklin. “I’ve only known you for a couple of hours, but I know you don’t really want this. You want to see your sister, right? She’s out there waiting for you. Don’t worry about Jasper. I can handle him. If he goes nuts, I’ll slap him back to his senses.” She turned to Jasper. “And you. I will not have a husband who just disregards his life like that. Did you ever think about how I’d feel if you died?”
“What did you say?” Jasper asked. “How did…”
“Franklin told me. When we first met. Josh confirmed it.” She took his hand. “I love you, Jasper. I came all this way to save you. Stop acting stupid and come back to me.”
Jasper looked her in the eyes and pulled her into him. “I’m sorry,” Jasper said.
“Shut up, dummy. Hey, wanna hear a joke? What kinds of pictures do hermit crabs take? Shellfies. Oh god, that almost made me puke.”
Jasper laughed. “That’s so bad.”
“I got more,” Ronda said, kissing him. “But I’ll only tell them to the real Jasper.” She pulled back and turned to Franklin. “If you kill him, then you better kill me two. I promised Jason I wouldn’t take this sword out unless I intended on putting it back covered in blood. Don’t make me use it.”
“When did you become a ********* Jasper asked.
“I’ve always been a ********* Ronda winked.
Josh put his hand on Franklin’s shoulder. “Stop. No one else has to die. We’re done here. It’s over.” Josh took his hand off of Franklin and went back inside the box. He walked over to Emily. “I’m sorry about him. He helped us get this far. Jason was a hero in his way.”
“Thank you,” Emily said, placing Jason back on the ground. “Ben, can you call Taylor? We should give them an update.”
“Sure,” Ben took out his phone. “Huh, no answer.”
“Um, guys? I think I know what that explosion was,” Kate said, looking out the window.
Everyone rushed over to the window and saw the remains of the jet. “How long has that been there?!” Jasper asked.
“That was how we got here,” Ben said. “They got out, right? No way they…”
“Oh no,” Emily said, covering her mouth in shock.
“Who’s they?” Ronda asked.
Ben shook his head and said, “My work friend Taylor and Amber.”
