Chapter Six: Tearful Goodbye, Unwelcome Hello
Shortly after Hope’s funeral I had to say goodbye to Meadow, Aidan, the triplets, and Jill. As much as they wanted to, Meadow and Aidan did not have the money or room to care for me.
My next family was the Clarks. They lived in a beautiful town called Hidden Springs. the family was very eco-friendly. Wanda was the wife, Jessie; the husband, and their toddler son; Evan. Wanda was also newly pregnant at the time.
The couple was very loving and accepting of me straight away but I refused to try and connect with them at all for the first few weeks. I stayed up in my room for most of that time and cried. Hope and Buzz were gone and I was ripped away from the only other people I knew and cared for at the time. Having just turned five I did not know how to handle it.
Right before the new school year started, the Clarks took me on a camping trip. I’d never been camping before and at first I was reluctant to go. The Clarks gave me the full camping experience. We slept in sleeping bags under a canopy and roasted the fish we caught in the nearby lake. By the time we went back home I was starting to open up to my new family.
