Chapter Four: My First Christmas
Winter had come. Hope’s beautiful garden was covered in a thick blanket of glittering wonder. As a toddler seeing the snow for the first time I can only imagine how I must have felt. This would be the first Christmas I spent with Hope and Buzz.
Christmas day everyone came to our home to celebrate. Meadow was nine months pregnant and was due anytime. Aidan had his daughter Jill. Presents were stacked under the tree awaiting to be torn open.
After the presents the family sat down at the table to enjoy a Christmas dinner. Hope had cooked up meat dies, a yule log, chocolate pudding topped with whipped cream and cherries, a turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, and Christmas cookies.
Only they didn’t get the chance to enjoy it. Soon after sitting down Meadow started to feel pain. Then came the gush of her water breaking. Aidan and Buzz both stood up panicking Hope calmly raised from her seat and after calming the men and gathering Jill and myself we were off to the hospital.
Birthing triplets on Christmas day could not have been easy. The nurses probably were upset having to work Christmas day instead of spending it with their families and the doctor would have been on call. But after the long, painful hours us women must endure to bring new life into the world, she delivered three healthy baby boys. Craig, Keith, and Brandon.
