I’m hungry but I have no money
I lay down on a bench because I’m tired
But I’m awoken by a pedestrian saying I don’t belong here
So I move–I lay on the grass under a highway
And less than four hours later I’m being arrested
I’m being arrested for being poor
People think I’m a threat because I can’t afford a home
They think I’m just out here smelling gross because I choose to
I didn’t choose to be poor
So stop treating homeless people like they want to be homeless
Because I promise you they would do anything to have a warm home and food.
So when you’re walking down the street and you see homeless people help them
Don’t call the cops and get them arrested they didn’t do anything
Innocent people are going to prison, some even being murdered because they’re homeless.
But us as human beings can make a difference.
We can change the world to be a better place.
