Chapter 2

~Prologue~

~~~
The sky was dark and dreary as the little girls cries echoed through the hall. His face was solemn as he stepped over James Potter’s limp body, a sudden sense of fear washing over him. “Lily…” he breathed, bolting up the creaky stairs. His eyes glistened with tears as he spotted the woman he loved, in a trembling heap on the floor. Her usually sparkling eyes caught his, a soft smile etched in pain falling onto her lips. “S-severus. Take-Take Amelia. Don’t send her off-off to my sister.” Her breathing became shallow. His eyes widened as he ran to her side. “No! NO! LILY!” she closed her eyes, a hand slowly making it’s way into his. “I always loved you…” he whispered. She took in a breath, before falling limp in his trembling arms. He hung his head, warm tears rushing down his face. The girl’s cries grew louder, almost to a scream. He looked up in anger towards the open door, standing shakily. “Y-You.” he stumbled into the room, the wailing girl falling silent. His cold gaze softened when he saw the melancholy girl laying in her crib. Severus walked over to the young girl, peering in at her. She opened her grey eyes in wonder, her red hair blowing softly in the cool wind. “Hello.” he whispered as he stroked her face. Severus had almost forgotten about the boy across from her, but in his mind the raven haired toddler wasn’t his problem. It was Lily’s dying request that he look after her only daughter. “Hello Amelia. I’m your-” his words flew up into his throat. Lily’s death had finally sunk in. No more secret meetings, no more smiles. No more chats on the phone or Christmas cards. His black eyes leaked with emotion as he lifted the girl out of her swaddles. “I’m your godfather.” he whispered to her once more, closing his eyes for a moment. “Severus? What are you doing?” He turned around, spotting Dumbledore in the doorway. “Lily-she’s-” “Gone I suppose. Such a tragic time.” The old man’s dull eyes finally settled on Harry. “The boy who lived.” he whispered, a twinkle in his eye. “Dumbledore, Lily told me-” “To take Amelia with you, yes I know.” The baby cooed at the old man, chewing on her balled up fist. “You may go now Severus.”
12 Years Later
“Uncle Sev! Wait for me!” The man sighed, shaking his head. His had finally allowed his god daughter to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, yet somehow she still managed to be bummed out over it. “Amelia, we need to leave now!” The twelve year old clambered down the stairs, stopping at the bottom. “I’m here! Let’s go.” She tucked a strand of red hair behind her ear before grabbing her uncle’s arm. He apparated the two to platform 9 3/4, keeping an eye out for her brother and his little posse. “Uncle, can I go now, please?” Severus huffed, allowing the girl to go. “Alright, but be sure to not make any trouble.” Her grey eyes brightened as she hugged him goodbye. “See you at the welcome feast!” With that the young girl bounded off in the direction of the big burgundy train, not knowing what was up for her ahead.
{A/N: Welcome to my book! This is the prologue, which will be the shortest part of the book. I tend to write longer chapters, but not prologues for some reason. Anyways, I hope you enjoy my book for the time being. Thank you.}
