Chapter 4 (Unfinished)

THE AIR was frigid, and cold. Catherine shivered. She felt goosebumps slowly trail up her arms and legs. Unexpectedly, a figure pressed against her, and held her tightly, securing her from the cold. She didn’t know who it was, but was strongly sure they wanted her safe. Eventually, Cath wasn’t cold anymore. The goosebumps had stopped, the air was musty and warm. The wind was mute, all that could be heard was the slightest of leaves rustling and crickets chirping. She felt something rough and sturdy behind her, holding her up. Leaves crunched around her, and eventually, someone spoke. “Cath. Cath wake up, it’s okay.” Her eyes eased open, revealing a dark figure standing over her. Catherine covered her mouth to protect herself from screaming. Instead, tears rolled down her cheek at rapid speed, as she saw who was kneeling in front of her. “Jest…?” Tears began to form in his eyes as well, coming to really grasp that it was her Catherine, laying in front of him, looking weak and distraught, but he was hers, and she was his. That’s all that mattered to him.
