Early Morning Thoughts

Early Morning Thoughts

An impromptu poem which I started at 4:36 A.M. and finished eight minutes later. Written on 2/25/2018.

Chapter 1

At 4:36 A.M. I write.

Unable to succumb to the coming of the day

And seeking solace in the arms of night

Temporary peace that compels the examinations

Of my heart’s worldly afflictions

Before sunbeams dance and sparkle bright

And the world awakens today.

    Gotta love those early morning hours before life and responsibility hits (especially during midterms exam). Thanks for the read.

      Haha, nope. But it’s right after our design/Capstone projects were assigned to us! ^^;

    Here for our swap! Let’s start.

    Though short, your poem really conveys a certain sort of moody ambience. In just a few lines, the reader gets the feel of your poem about writing a poem, as well as the all too familiar feeling of being awake in the early hours of the day (and probably wishing you were asleep.)

    Your line about “worldly afflictions” particularly speaks to me. I feel as if it is this line that best conveys the feeling of the poem. I interpret this line as being about one of the most integral parts of the human condition: worrying. We’ve all had times we couldn’t sleep due to anxiety over (often small) problems. I feel as if this poem speaks about that, and, later, letting go of these worries by writing them down.

    Hope my review was helpful! (Sorry if it was a mess; I’m kinda scattered today.)

    Always keep writing. Stay awesome.
