I knew she would follow us! Yesterday was so much fun. I wanted the same for today. I walked away, ignoring her. Ignoring the fact that she might want to take me back home. I didn’t want to be with her. At all. I didn’t like her one bit.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Raina said calmly, still following me like she had for the last 2 minutes.
“Back to the place we slept at,” I answered.
I have no idea why I said that because Raina said, “Oh, so you’re not giving up. Why? Wouldn’t it be better if you’d just stay with me?”
“No. You’re a horrible mother!”
She gasped. “How dare you say that about me! I gave you shelter, food, clothes, and a whole bunch of other stuff in the past 13 years!”
“Yeah, but you also kidnapped us.” Ian had told me last night that when he was 6 months old, he and his parents were walking by a hospital and he saw a woman kidnapping 2 babies. He told me what he remembered about how the woman looked. He described her just like Raina. Black, black hair, all the things that are traits of Raina.
“How did you…” Raina stopped herself, but then said, “Who told you that? I would never do that. You should know that-” She grabbed my hand but I pulled it away.
