Jerry had had his fill of emotional pain, being abandoned by his Parents from the Blue Planet. Yes, it’s weird, they actually capitalize the “P” in Parents in vocabulary in this City, the City of Darkness. Jerry felt like an outcast, he knew no one is this city would give a #!%@ about him.
