Wanderlust

By @Sigy17

Once, a long time ago in a kingdom by the sea, there lived a young lady who was perfectly content with her life.

Though as the sun and stars traded places and the tides came and went, she found herself increasingly unhappy. Gone were the days that she could stroll along the shore, looking out at the horizon without longing. Longing for what, however, she did not know. She knew only that she had grown tired of sitting peacefully under the sun.

She found solace in the stars. In the dark, never-ending blue above. In the stillness and the quiet, and the silhouettes of sandpipers scurrying in the distance. For here, on the balcony of her lighthouse home, swaddled in darkness and lulled by the relentless crashing of the waves, she felt her longing lessen.

With each passing day, the stars in her heart grew more and more restless, until she could bear it no more. Not even the stars could keep her longing at bay. She packed her books and journals, clothes and shoes, and anything she might have needed for a long journey, loaded onto the train, and set off North, away from the town that had grown too small for her exploratory soul. For the only cure for wanderlust is to go on an adventure.
