Chapter 1

Wild Spirit and You

When I imagine love,

life,

happiness.

I imagine you.

No matter the color of the sky,

loudest of storms,

scariest of thoughts,

and loneliest of nights.

I imagine you.

When I’m on the verge of crying,

as I’m shaking on the floor,

loss of breath,

and broken hearted.

I imagine you.

You are on my mind when the sun rises and sun sets,

when their colors light up the sky.

When I lay beneath the waves,

listening to the crashing of them on the shore.

When I drown my thoughts in the music,

and hold my chest to stop the hurting sensation.

You are there.

Either to comfort me,

or make it worse.

Knowing you could be tearing my broken self in two at any moment,

ripping the love out of my chest,

the smile off my face,

and the wild spirit inside.

In two seconds , my vibrant eyes could turn dull.

My spirit could walk away,

like there is nothing left to see,

experience,

live for or love,

like it was never there.

You rip out the only image I have of a happy mind,

one free of dangerous and sorrowful thoughts.

But, you heal my heart and the emptiness,

the loneliness the night brings,

and the fears hidden in it.

You create a storm of them,

surging in my mind,

one left to dwell on the love I had left.

The love you created.

You see, no matter where I am,

what I think,

or what I do.

I imagine you.

There to make it better,

or there to tear it all apart,

like it was never there.

My wild spirit running free on the love you gave to fuel its greatest desires is gone,

and my sad soul roams my mind like the dark streets at night.

No one there to bring the city back to life,

or in this case,

my fragile heart,

missing the love you gave it to live and survive.

Wishing you were still here to bring her smile back,

her wild spirit.

My wild spirit.

That was beautiful. The message of the poem really resonated with what I’ve been going through recently. You can feel the fluidity of how it was delivered. Excellent.
