What was the first romance novel you read?
Ooh, this is a tough one! I’m pretty sure it was Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen.
What romance are you currently reading?
I recently finished We’re a Bad Idea, Right? By K. L. Walther, and it was a DREAM. Plus, I love the creamsicle sunset vibes of the covers!
What are your favorite tropes?
I’m always an enemies to lovers girl, but grumpy x sunshine or there’s only one bed are close seconds.
Who’s your book crush?
I think, throughout all the books I’ve ever read, I’ve never loved a book boyfriend as much as I loved Aaron Warner from the Shatter Me series. I wish I could reread those books for the first time and experience it all again!
What inspires your writing?
Honestly? Love. I am obsessed with love—the cheesy rom-coms, the books, the Hallmark movies. There is so much love in the world, and I write these stories to celebrate it, because it’s such an incredible thing that deserves all the applause and light it gets. There’s a reason it’s the genre that’s kept the lights on in publishing since the dawn of time!
What’s your favorite part of writing romance?
The meet-cute. It is my favorite scene to write, so I usually write it first before I start drafting anything else. I can’t move forward until the meet-cute has been sorted.
Share with us an out of context quote from We’ve Hit Turbulence! (Bonus points for anything swoony or full of banter.)
Tyler’s looking down at me with absolute wonder on his face as he sticks out a hand to boost me up. “Olive Austin, I think you’ve just been reborn.”
“Tyler Ferris,” I retort as our palms lock. “I think I just became a different person entirely.”
That’s one of my favorite scenes in the book for so many reasons. You’ll find out why when you read it!
Describe We’ve Hit Turbulence in three emojis.
The airplane, those two little pink hearts stacked next to each other, and the little palm tree on the little island in the ocean. I certainly overuse those in my social media posts!
Thank you for having me!
