What was the first romance novel you read?

I don’t remember the very first romance novel I ever read. I’ve been reading romance since I was fifteen. It was probably a mass market harlequin of some sort. BUT! One of the very first young adult romance novels I ever read was The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and I loved it so much. It was one of the novels that made me want to write.

What romance are you currently reading?

I just finished reading If You Were Here by Abigail Johnson. So cute! I really enjoyed that one.

What are your favorite tropes?

I love the fake relationship trope so much! It’s probably my absolute favorite. But I love enemies to lovers and friends to lovers as well. Also a big fan of trapped together, which is the trope of Room to Breathe.

Who’s your book crush?

If we’re talking young adult here, which we are, I adore Wes from The Truth About Forever. I need to go reread that book. It’s been a minute.

What inspires your writing?

Love! I love writing about love.

What’s your favorite part of writing romance?

It’s so fun to be able to write about people falling in love on the daily. To explore the messiness and happiness and fluffiness that makes up relationships. It’s my favorite.

Share with us an out of context quote from Room to Breathe!

“You can’t pick a lock from the inside.”

“Thank goodness you showed up to tell me that. Had you heard me yelling at you to hold the door, we’d already be out of here.”

“Had you not had your foot in the toilet, I would’ve seen you and never come inside in the first place.”

“Why don’t you go put your head in the toilet. Give us both some peace.”

“It might be the more pleasant option in this situation.”

“Couldn’t agree more.”

“Nice,” he said sarcastically.

“Nice,” I said, my breathing hard. I tried to control it for several moments. He didn’t need to know he was having any effect on me. Who was I kidding, he already knew. He could always read me.
